Kristen Stewart might be the light in the darkness of “Snow White and the Huntsman,” but in her next film, “Cali,” Stewart is fully embracing the unsavory. The Nick Cassavetes-directed flick is expected to shoot this summer and, from the looks of it, it exists in a world that couldn’t be farther from the fairytale world of “Snow White.”

“Hopefully after all of this we can go and we can do it in the summer, like lock ourselves away for a few weeks in the Valley [in L.A.] in a little production office and get together really weird, freaky actor people,” she told MTV News. “It’s filled with like the coolest characters.”

The film centers on Mya (Stewart) and Chris, a couple from San Fernando Valley who sell a fake snuff film and disappear with the money. But Mya, who’s thought to be dead, must head back to Cali years later to save the younger sister she left behind. When she and Chris return, they’re faced with an array of characters, including “angry former business partners, homicidal porn stars, stoner vet techs [and] an unstoppable killing machine in a cowboy hat.” Michael Diliberti (“30 Minutes or Less”) wrote the script.

“I’m from the Valley. It’s been a while since we captured that world and it’s super extreme, everything about it. I think it’s like, it’s extremely violent, it’s extremely funny, extremely emotional,” she explained about the film, which will be Stewart’s first producer credit. “But all very kind of, not hard to watch, but real.”

Until she gets real in “Cali,” KStew will close the “Twilight” chapter of her career when “Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ opens this November. She’s expected to hit up the Cannes Film Festival to premiere “On the Road,” in which she’ll showing another real side of herself when she appears nude.

“I wasn’t scared, honestly,” Stewart told MTV News of the sex scenes, including a ménage à trois with co-stars Garrett Hedlund and Sam Riley.

“It’s kind of insane to watch now. I’m like, ‘Who is that?’ But I think — as every actress says when they do this is — it just felt so right,” she said. “It was so within a different world and so within a different environment that I don’t even really feel — I mean, I am personally connected to it, of course — but it is something outside of myself.”

Now that “The Vampire Diaries” has wrapped its third season, Ian Somerhalder will now have some time to fill, and if fans of “Fifty Shades of Grey” have their way, he’ll step into the role of Christian Grey.

For weeks, fans have been voicing their opinions on who should play the billionaire tycoon in the film adaptation of the hit erotic trilogy penned by E L James. Robert Pattinson‘s name has been in the mix, as well as Ryan Gosling, but it seems that most vans are gravitating toward the “Vampire Diaries” star to take on this dark and dynamic character.

MTV News caught up with Somerhalder at the CW Upfronts in New York City on Thursday (May 17) and he revealed that playing the role of Damon in the “Vampire Diaries” has been perfect training to get him ready to portray Christian Grey.

“I think it would be an amazing thing,” Somerhalder said of the possibility of getting the role. “One interesting thing is, by the virtue of playing Damon for now a few years, [he's] 170 plus years old, in love with an 18 year old, I officially have a lot of experience seducing younger women. I’m not saying, I’m just saying.”

“Fifty Shades of Grey” revolves around Christian Grey’s relationship with young college graduate Anastasia Steele as the two develop not only a strong emotional relationship, but a much-talked-about sexual relationship. The scenes are so hot that at times it has left readers, and even Somerhalder a little flushed.

“A little bit, yeah, there’s blushing,” Somerhalder said of some of the S&M scenes.

We are sure fans would agree that Somerhalder could easily pull it off, but his support isn’t just coming from the “Fifty Shades” fans, it is also coming from his “Vampire Diaries” co-stars.

“I know he’s campaigning, I love it,” Candice Accola said of Somerhalder expressing his interest for the role. “I mean, the whole thing is like Adonis, sexy and he fits that bill pretty well.”

Kat Graham agrees, “Ian’s an amazing actor, he’s extremely dedicated to his craft and he’s also very good to the fans,” Graham told MTV News at the annual Wango Tango concert. “They’d be lucky to have him.”

I feel like I’ve missed a movie where Juno Temple was great and led her to be in plenty of other movies.  I’ve seen her in Year One, Killer Joe, Greenberg, Cracks, and Small Apartments, and I’ve found her forgettable every time.  If someone could please direct me to her breakthrough film, I would greatly appreciate it.  There’s plenty more Temple on the way as the actress co-stars in The Dark Knight Rises, The Brass Teapot, Lovelace, Truck Stop, Little Birds, and Wild Side.  Maleficent opens March 14, 2014.

“Terminator: Rise of the Machines” actor Nick Stahl has been reported missing. Los Angeles law enforcement officials confirmed to TMZ that Stahl’s wife, Rose Murphy, reported her husband missing on Monday, saying that the last time she saw the 32-year-old was on May 9.

Sources told the website that Stahl had been displaying some erratic behavior recently and was allegedly spending time in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles. The source also expressed concern that the actor might have become involved in some questionable activities.

This is not the first time, however, that those close to the actor have expressed concern over his well-being. Stahl’s wife filed papers with the LA County Superior Court back in February asking a judge to limit her husband’s access to their 2-year-old daughter Marlo due to his alleged drug and alcohol abuse. She also claimed that she and Stahl were no longer living together.

There has been no word from Stahl’s reps regarding his whereabouts, but Stahl’s wife has been relatively active on her Twitter account, posting a general thank you for support early Wednesday (May 16). “Thank you for kind words,” she tweeted.

A quick look at Stahl’s Twitter account shows that the actor has been inactive since May 1, but that he and Murphy might have been working through their problems since the actor tweeted on April 26 that they were not actually separated.

Stahl made his big-screen debut back in 1993 opposite Mel Gibson in “The Man Without a Face.” Since then, he’s appeared in several major studio films, inclduing “The Thin Red Line,” “Disturbing Behavior” and “Sin City.” His most recent role is in the VOD-released “388 Arletta Avenue” opposite Devon Sawa.

The road to the highly anticipated “Anchorman 2″ has been a long one. Since “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” arrived in 2004, there were reports from cast and crew confirming a sequel and announcing a script was in the process of being written.

But the words were then taken back, leaving fans dizzy and disappointed believing they wouldn’t see the anchormen reunite. Finally, when all hope was lost, Ferrell made a surprise appearance on “Conan” as the legendary Ron Burgundy to announce that the sequel was greenlit.

With the “Anchorman 2″ teaser trailer playing before Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Dictator,” the Lebanese Cinema Movie Guide released the first official poster. It shows the Channel 4 news team’s feet standing on set in the studio, the bottom of their suits — including Ron’s signature burgundy number, presumably not bought at the toilet store — keeping it classy as always. The official title of the film appears at the bottom in big, bold print (“Anchorman: The Legend Continues”) with a release date of 2013.

While the film is still in the very early stages of development, the first movie’s director and co-writer Adam McKay will reunite with Ferrell to pen the script and the principal cast is set to return, including Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. When MTV News spoke with McKay back in 2010, he told us he expected much of the cast to come along for the sequel.

“We had an idea, and we contacted Steve and Paul and [David] Koechner and Christina [Applegate] and checked in with everyone, and they were all game for it,” McKay said. “It’s a tricky movie, because everyone went and did really well after it, so everyone’s prices went up and everyone’s time got a little more valuable. But at the same time, graciously, Steve and Paul and everyone agreed to cut their price to come and do it, which you don’t see very often in Hollywood — and cut their price substantially.”

Thanks to the cast’s commitment, Ron and the rest of the anchormen are set to hit theaters in 2013. Until then, stay classy, moviegoers.

Hollywood is officially headed to the French Riviera for the 65th Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off Wednesday. With so much of the attention Stateside focused squarely on the “Rob and Kristen Factor,” we thought it would be helpful to take a look at the lineup and share the films we are most excited about at the upcoming festival.

Here are our top 10 most anticipated movies at the Cannes Film Festival:

10. “The Paperboy”
This adaptation of the Peter Dexter novel marks Lee Daniels’ first film since making it big on the indie scene with “Precious.” “The Paperboy” promises a different direction for Daniels, telling the story of a reporter (John Cusack) who travels back to his home town to investigate a death-row case.

9. “Reality”
Director Matteo Garrone made waves at Cannes in 2008 with his hyper-real look at Neapolitan organized crime, “Gomorrah,” which won the Grand Jury Prize that year. For this year’s festival, he returns with “Reality,” a look at the way we perceive life since the dawn of reality television.

8. “Cosmopolis”
Robert Pattinson’s name alone has drawn much attention to this in-competition film, but the true nature of its intrigue lies with its director, David Cronenberg. With his adaptation of Don DeLillo’s novel, Cronenberg, with the help of Pattinson, of course, looks to be revisiting the bizarre aesthetics and subject matters that made him famous in the 1980s. We’ve been waiting for this one ever since it won the MTV Movie Brawl 2012 back in January.

7. “Like Someone in Love”
“Certified Copy,” the previous film from Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami, earned Juliette Binoche a best actress award at Cannes in 2010, but the film itself is one of the best examples of pure art-house filmmaking in the past few years. With “Like Someone in Love,” Kiarostami shifts his focus from Italy to Japan but keeps the same entry point of a man and a woman who may or may not know each other.

6. “Amour”
“The White Ribbon,” Michael Haneke’s previous film tangentially about the saplings of fascism in Germany, wowed audiences on the Croisette in 2009, and “Amour” seems poised to do the same. The film tells the story of Georges and Anne, an octogenarian couple whose bond comes under strain after one of them suffers an attack.

5. “On the Road”
Similar to “Cosmopolis,” “On the Road” has drawn a great deal of attention because it features a “Twilight” star, in this case Kristen Stewart, but she only makes up an element of this insanely star-studded Jack Kerouac adaptation, which also stars Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen and Terrence Howard.

4. “Lawless”
Formerly known as “Wettest County,” this Southern-set prohibition crime film boasts a cast featuring Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman and Guy Pearce and a critical darling of a director, John Hillcoat. The recently released trailer looks strong, and Hillcoat’s pedigree alone (his previous films include “The Proposition” and “The Road”) make this a must-see for the festival.

3. “Rust and Bone”
A film about a whale trainer who loses a leg to an orca doesn’t necessary seem like Palme d’Or material, but “Rust and Bone” comes from director Jacques Audiard, who took the Grand Jury Prize in 2009 with the impressive “A Prophet,” and it stars Marion Cotillard as the unfortunate trainer.

2. “Killing Them Softly”
It wouldn’t be surprising if you haven’t seen “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” but it would certainly be unfortunate. The western starring Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck debuted and left theaters quietly, but since 2007, the film has slowly gained a reputation as a modern classic. As director Andrew Dominik’s first film since “Jesse James,” “Killing Them Softly” stands out as both his reunion with Pitt and his much-anticipated follow-up.

1. “Mud”
A writer/director may take a few films to nail down their voice and storytelling identity, but with his first two movies, Jeff Nichols has not only established himself as a serious filmmaker, but also one of the most exciting auteurs working today. Those films, “Shotgun Stories” and “Take Shelter,” are two genuine masterpieces of American filmmaking, and we look forward to his third feature film “Mud,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon.
